CYTED Project

Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development.

The CYTED Program is a platform that promotes and supports multilateral cooperation in science and technology, aimed at the transfer of knowledge, experiences, information, results and technologies among the countries of the Ibero-American Region. CYTED is a common instrument of national science and technology systems to foster cooperation in Research and Innovation, and promote technology transfer actions to the business sector and the creation of business incubators in the Ibero-American Region.

CYTED was created in 1984 through an Interinstitutional Framework Agreement signed by 21 Spanish-Portuguese-speaking countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela). Since 1995, the CYTED Program has been formally included among the Cooperation Programs of the Ibero-American Summits of Heads of State and Government.

Since its creation, CYTED has financed 504 Thematic Networks and 700 Innovation Projects, with the participation of more than 8,500 301 research groups, and the involvement of more than 28,700 Ibero-American scientists and technologists.
